Madelyn Swed, MFT

Madelyn Swed
One of the most important parts of my life and my effectiveness as a therapist has been my own emotional and spiritual growth and what I have learned as a parent and being in a committed, long term, loving marriage. I love exploring and developing the intersection and integration of modern science with ancient wisdom. I am deeply grateful that I have the opportunity to do the work I love: creating more love and healing in the world. I am passionate about helping people to understand and step out of limiting patterns that have outworn their effectiveness, and step into the freedom to make choices, heal past pain, create loving connections, and grow. When a person heals they can reclaim more wholeness, connection, and the freedom to create a meaningful, fulfilling life. This has a ripple effect on their relationships, family, children, and future.

The tools and skills I have acquired over 30 years of extensive training and practice, have helped me to become an effective therapist for individuals, couples, and families. I am a lifelong learner and my work is informed by the latest research in the field of psychotherapy. As the first Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist in Santa Barbara, I help couples achieve the kind loving relationship they may never have believed possible. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), is a proven model with the highest success rates for achieving a long lasting, loving, and secure bond. I am so deeply gratified when a client has shared how our work together has changed their life and so honored to guide and witness moments of bonding when partners experience more connection and joy between them than ever.

I provide a safe environment and a compassionate and understanding presence, free of judgment. These are the base from which I help clients to slow down, reflect, explore, and grow.
My understanding of the power of emotion and working with it in present moment experience enables me to support clients in achieving lasting change.
